Hey, I have a 76 T/A with a 400 mated to a TH350. The transmission was rebuilt about 5 years ago with a B&M Master rebuild kit and their shift improver kit as well. It has been working problem-free ever since then. It has never had any sign of a problem. It has an 12" torque converter with 2200-2400 stall.

TODAY! THIS MORNING! I drove down the street to start my journey to work, and it shifted into 3rd gear, then immediately downshifted into 2nd while the shifter was in drive. I was like wtf, but I drove down the main road, which is a 35 mph road, and it did it about 4 more times, so I drove around the block back home. I went inside, told my dad, and he looked at the car while I'm at work. He checked the vacuum lines, added a quart of ATF, and he drove it around and said it wouldn't shift out of 2nd, or it's shifting, but there's not enough grip to completely make the shift, so it's just slipping.

Just drove the car around after changing the fluid and filter. There were small metal chunks along with shavings in the pan. And the old fluid was brown and smelled burned...actually still smells burned. Also, the engine braking in 2nd gear is as it normally is.

I drove it around, and you can drive the car perfectly fine and normal in 2nd gear. The car acts completely normal and terrific in 1st and 2nd, but doesn't grip enough to shift into third. I can drive in 2nd as long as I keep it under 55 mph, for the meantime.

Drove it around for a bit. Every shift it sounded like metal was breaking in side the tranny and rattling down in the pan. Now we're ****ed. Rebuild time or New Tranny time. Close this thread. I'm screwed.
