After seaching for a big brake kit for my 85 Corvette that wouldn't move the wheels out and would use a radial mount caliper, a friend and I with a CNC shop have been working on mounting the Wilwood 6-Piston calipers and 13" rotors on the 84-87 Vette spindles and I'm almost ready to give them a try! https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2005/06/willy_nilly-1.gif We made our own hats and caliper brackets in the CNC machine and we've got them mocked up on a spindle and everything dimensionally looks accurate. We are refining a couple minor things but with any luck I should be testing them on my car in the next two weeks..I don't know if anyone is interested, but if the kits work like I think they will, I'll offer them for sale.

Ok..I got to step 2 today and test fit the parts and everything went good. I've got lots of wheel clearance with the AFS wheels. Next we'll get the the hardware sorted out (probably ARP) and the brackets and hats anodized. Can't wait to try them out now!

That looks pretty spiffy. Make sure you post something over on the Corvette Forum, too.

Thanks!...I did put a post up there the other day. I'm going to install it next week after I get the hats and brackets anodized and the hardware from ARP. I've got a 94 lined up to check it parts on this week too, so we will know what has to be done for the 88-96 cars.

Ummm.... Is the brake caliper on upside down here? Everything looks great too, by the way.

Darned nice work. Did you key off the stock C4 hat dimensions to make your own, or are they a custom dimension to fit your particular case?

Make sure you check your wheel bearings, and hub rigidity, I am getting some nasty pad kickback since switching to fixed calipers on a first gen Camaro. Bummer after all of the work to get the stuff to fit up.

Thanks!..we made our own hats to be able to run the thicker Wilwood calipers and moved the inside rotor position closer to the steering arm so, unlike the other early C4 conversions we don't space the wheels out with wheel spacers causing tire interference with the fender, especially on the lowered cars. We are test fitting parts on the late (88-96) C4 next week..I'll keep you posted...and yep the caliper in the pic is on the wrong side..just mocking it up.
