View Full Version : Outside pad wear?
I installed a Bear track kit on my 70 Mustang awhile back. I got the whole kit front rear master etc. The kit has been on the car for about a year and I have noticed that the front rotors on the outside looks as if the pad is not making good contact. The reason I say this if it gets surface rust on it it will not even take it off after driving. The rear and the inside of the front rotors look good and clean but the outside looks untouched. This is a non power setup and I cant tell it stops any better than the factory! I called Bear and they say just to keep driving it but after a year come on. You can even turn the ajustable valve all the way right or left and no difference. I am no brake expert so ny help would be great.

looking at the rotor it looks good, i think you just need to let the pads set in do NOT do hard stops for the firs 1,000 mil most brakes take time to set in Ware do you live at? if you live in the north west i can help out more!!

dang i work for a full on front end, brake, tire and performance suspension shop it is only in the north west 430 stores this is what you need to do.
#1 remove the front wheels
#2 have someone get in to the drivers seat and pump the brakes slowly
#3 you look at the caliper it will flex and it should slide from the outside to the inside of the car
#4 if all that is working remove the caliper and check the pads (look for center wear) that's a good thing
#5 if you have bottom pad wear the lower piston is not moving if the top of the pad is wearing thin the top piston is not working, or stuck (inside pad)
try this and let me know what you find.
