Just put a set of heads on my 70 C10. Mild 350 engine with about 500 miles on the whole build. Swapped to the edelbrock heads because the studs started pulling out of the old heads with the new camshaft. Heres some syptoms:
-Huge cloud of oil smoke on start (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?p=4675528#) up
-Uses a quart of oil in three days
-Fouls the plugs out after a week

The heads were about 6 years old when I got them but, have never been used. I replaced the valve seals but, I didnt see anything wrong with the old ones when I replaced them and they are the newer superior style seals. Haven't started the truck up yet so i dont know if that fixed the issue. When I was running the rope down each cylinder to keep the valves (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?p=4675528#) from falling in the head the number 8 cylinder left alot of oil residue on the rope. What do you guys think it can be. I'm hoping valve seals. Just trying to make sure Im not missing anything before I adjust valves again and ruin another set of plugs.

You're on target with the seals. Oil can only get into the chambers past the rings or down the guides. Since this started after the head swap, the guides are mighty suspicious! That's assuming all the gaskets are correct for the application and were installed correctly (if the intake gaskets don't seal correctly around the ports, they'll happily let oil in, too!). Since the heads are new, guide clearance shouldn't be an issue. The new seals should help, if the springs aren't crushing them from lack of clearance at full lift (check that!).

Seal seem to have fixed the problem. Thanks and nice wagon!
