I finally got my brakes, very nice. These are going on a 69 camaro that currently has power disc/drum. I want to go to manual and need advice on what master cylinder to use.

Thanks, Daren

What calipers did you get?

I am using an S10 manual MC on my GTO. Do a search. There were a ton of discussions about this MC about 2 years ago.

I used a universal one that art morrison sells for $100. Works great and bolted straight in my 68,

I used wilwoods master cylinder. I had to elongate the mounting holes for it to fit, but it works great. Just remember that the rod connects to the other hole in the brake pedal arm when you switch. You will also have to redo the brake lines and distribution valve. Switch to a distribution block. Run Residual pressure valves. Run a prop valve for the rear. The reason you need to moify the lines is that the stock power disc/drum lines locate the dist valve further forward and higher than it should be with manual MC. The power booster moves the MC up and forward. if all you do is switch MCs the stock block will be right in front of the MC. This requires the residual pressure valves to prevent bleed off and looks ugly. Trust me, went through all the headaches already. I have pics to show it. let me know.

Im using the Wilwood master cylinder also, i talked to a tech there and he told me to plum it up this way, the 2 front ports one on each side feed the front and the rear one feeds the rear, this is straight forward but the thing he said was to not use any distribution blocks, just have a praportioning valve in the circuit for the rear, this i mounted under the car where there was a metering block of some sort just under the driver side, only thing i did not do that he said is he would run a 3/16 line to the rear, i have the 1/4 inch line there, maybe i will change this if i cant ballance out the brakes, this is the first time i played with a brake upgrade and am a little unsure on all this, we will just wait and see how it works.
