Great time at the Super Chevy show this weekend. I autocrossed yesterday and managed to pull out the win. 27 runs in 2 hours! Wow!

Today I drag raced for the first time and made 3 passes. I ended up running an 11.9 at 119 mph best. She's got some left in her once I get a litttle more experience off the line. Not a bad weekend for a protouring car.

Awesome! That 119MPH says it nearly has 10s in it on slicks.

Thanks guys, I'm going to get her on the chassis dyno and make sure my jetting is right on the money as well. I fattened up the primary side after I installed the engine for a drivability issue. I think with a cleaner shifting trans and some real drag slicks, she'll go mid 11's easy. What a blast!

Hi Todd,
Well, How far did you spin tires? A ton of your ET is in the 60ft time in drag racing. Are you converting? HA,HA. Had a blast Saturday you have a great car and you can drive. It was cool battling of 1st Gens TCI Camaro and your car on the Autocross at the same time course Saturday. Everyone got a kick out of that.

Thanks,Sal

Sal, thanks for sponsoring such a fantastic event and being so professional. I had an absolute blast battling you guys. Your stuff works!

I don't think I'm converting, but I'm certainly putting it up there with the other events. I spun out of the hole every time. My last run I feathered the clutch at 3 grand and it really hooked about half way through first all the way to the stripe. That's the most G's I've ever felt in that car! I think I need to do a better burnout. No smoke in the videos.

Hi Todd,
This is just trading one bad habit for another. The one thing that will kill a clutch is the weight of a pro touring car that has a tire that car hook and not enough gear for the weight, tire, clutch combo for drag racing.
I drag raced the Camaro at Fontana with R888 and i had to get them real hot to hook! I tested the four link and then the torque arm 295 35 18 before we tub it. I only lost a little 60ft with the TQ. The four link was 1.72 and the TQ arm was 1.81. 12.40 this is with 350 hwp. There is no doubt your car will run 10s hooking up you already had 10 mph over our Camaro out the back door. Jetting the car for straight line racing could be worth a ton more power.

Thanks,Sal

Next time I'll do a 2nd gear burn out and left foot brake it until they start getting hot. Having never been in a water box or raced with a tree, I was being careful not to make any stupid mistakes. Making a jet change wouldn't be the end of the world for a weekend. Especially on the secondary side. Having a spare set of coil overs with soft springs wouldn't be a bad idea either. Doubt I take it that far. I'll likely just do their midnight mayhem when the rules aren't to strict. I have no battery shut off and my cage isn't certified anyway.

Well staging a clutch car with no line lock take some practice, what a great time and thanks for the positive
feedback. hope to see you at the phoenix super chevy show in october. SCCA will be setting up that track this year. good to see you had a great time.

Very cool, love to see the cars being used. The old big block sure hasn't hurt you weight wise, in the AutoX

She's around 3780 with me in the car. Not svelt but I seem to have the car working pretty well now with the R888's. The weight is definitely hurting me on the drag strip. Hard to get it out of the hole. I picked up 25 mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4 stripe and that's supposed to be good. Once I get my trans modded and get the tires a little hotter, I think a mid 11 pass is in the cards. I'm going to find out! I did ask my engine builder about how much NOS is safe. Not sure I"ll go there....

What did your engine builder say? I'm curious myself. :)

Also, big congrats on the AutoX win. Proper!

From Jason Pettis: And to answer that last question, spray is never safe.... LOL ....but 200hp would be OK to try.

I'm going to forget all about NOS!

:smoke: using crack is never safe.... LOL ....but 200hp worth of crack would feel pretty good.

I'm going to forget all about using crack!

Todd, I fixed it for ya  ....LOL

Congrats on your win.

Yah, I think I'd be a little nervous about that also considering the value of the block and its components. If Pettis is saying that 666HP + 200HP is OK to try, I wonder how much credit their giving the 650HP rating that GM placed on the block. We all know about GM ratings and how they typically under-rate things to be on the safe side, but that variance would still make me really nervous every I hit the nitrous button. I've seen some notes about the new ZL1 block that say it can handle up to 800HP, so there's some ambiguity there. Regardless, I think you'd be testing its limits.

I agree, I don't think it's worth the potential consequences. I'm a believer in his machine work but am hesitant to put the block through that stress.
