Rims are in for the GOAT!

This was an exercise. I tried to get factory polished Pontiac rims, however, they did not come in 20". Plan B. Had my son Justin set up 6 different set of rims on photoshop of a black 69 judge. (Thanks to another member.)

Each set would show on the computer screen for 5 seconds. This made it much easier to make a decision. I believe I got it right.

Billet Specialties, Soft Lip SLC85 Series. Nitto tires. Front rims: 18x8 Front tires: 235.40.18 Rear rims: 20x10 Rear tires: 275.35.20

Note: Back spacing for front: 4.5 - rear: 5.75

Any thoughts?

Great choice, much better than the factory stuff anyway. Now you are ahead of me and I am jealous. Looks like at least 3 more weeks before I get mine.
Have you test fitted them yet? Should fill the rear fenderwells well. :icon996:

Yes, a test fit was done with a mule set of rims from the manufacture Panther loaned to me by a local Discount Tire. They were Deeeetroit style rims, with spears and arrows and everything. They did fit though, thanks to G-Force. His white Chevelle had a set of rims with similar backspacing on it. He gave me the correct specs to try my sample rims with.

I looked long and hard for multi-spoked rims. The 69 GTO just has too many body curves and those style rims did not look correct at all. I had to go with the old true blue five spoke. As you know multi-spoked rims do look good on the older GTO's. You have the right ones for your style GOAT.

I don't have a web site. My son Justin may put one up in the future. He is a wiz at this stuff. When I joined this forum my car was already aprox. 75% complete. 10-13 years in the making. It has only 48,000 original miles. 30 years ago it had new quarters, fenders, door skins, hood, and trunk lid replaced. Plus I switched all the chrome from an Arizona car I bought when I was 18. I'm now 47. However, because of this site I have decided to go pro-touring style. Hence, more suspension mods, etc. There will be a lot of pics forthcoming. I'm just not there yet with what we call picture progress. Real close though.

I have visited your website. I get a kick out of the name. After reading the entire script I have TOTAL RESPECT for what and how you are doing your car. Very informative and it helps others.

You are welcome to come visit and hopefully vice versa. I'm in Novi, MI. The car is in Commerece Twp. Aprox 2-3 miles from my house.

The 69 Judge will not be ready for the Woodward Dream Cruise. If I had listen to the painters the car was to be ready in June 05. With all the back order of new parts, Bear Brakes, Global West Suspension, etc; the deadline has been pushed back to DEC. 25, 05. That includes dyno testing, run ability, etc. This will give me two months for cleaning and detailing before its inaugural showing at the Detroit Autorama Show. Everything takes 2-3 times longer than expected.

My work has been done for a few weeks. It took me months upon months to complete let alone the R&D time invested. Every part has been replaced or cleaned, detailed, taged, bagged, boxed, marked, etc. The only thing I haven't done is put a bar code on them.

The guys putting it back together love me. They have a five page instruction list of what I want done to the car. When they take a box of parts off two skids marked 1969 GTO JUDGE PARTS, its like opening a Christmas present. The outside of every box is marked accordingly. Inside each part is shrink wrapped or set inside a batch of paper toweling. It makes life eaiser for them. Time is money for them. I would rather use that extra cash to put back into the car.

Your not too far from National Parts Depot in Livonia. The next time I have to swing out there for parts (which will probably be soon) I will swing by your crib to check out the project. Looks awesome.
