I have a set of Autometer Phantom gauges for a 65 GTO with an LS1. I am getting no signal for the fuel gauge can onyone tell me the proper way to wire this- do I connect the ground to the same point as the sender is grounded to ( as the instructions state). Also no signal to the speedo I have it connected to the speeedo output wire from the computer- I was told to get the signal directly from the wire going INTO the computer - which one there are two that come off of the transmission speed sensor. its a 2002 LS1 with a 6 speed- all other gauges and electronics work fine

I have a 2002 LS1 also, I have not made all my connections yet. BUT I spliced into the ppl/wht wire that goes to the #21 pin on the red connector to the "signal" terminal on the speedo. Then on the "out" Terminal I connected the drk grn/wht wire to the ECM pin #50 on the red connector. This info is based off of The stock wiring harness and a PIN OUT sheet I got off LS1 Tech.
As far as the gas gauge goes. I beleive you hook 12v to the gauge... The wire coming from the gas tank to the "signal" post on the gauge, and it should work. The sending unit is nothing more than a varible resistor regulating how much ground the gauge sees.
You didn't say what wiring harnes you are using... so I'll assume stock... my gas gauge wire is tan.

I have same setup as you as well. Fuel Gauge- I= ingnition or switched power; S= sender (usually tan wire) from sending unit; G= ground. You will also need to run a ground wire from the sending unit to chassis ground. I ran it separately than the fuel pump ground. On the speedo, 12v+ on gauge to ignition/switched power; G= ground (usually purple wire), SIGNAL= Yellow wire. I did NOT splice into the wiring coming from the trans. After speaking with speartech, I used the speedometer output from the computer. My AAW harness had the matching yellow/purple wires to run from the computer to the gauge. You will also need to calibrate the speedo as per the autometer website.

Thanks, the speedo just had to be calibrated (idiot). Works fine now with the signal from the computer .For the fuel gauge the instructions say to ground to the gas tank ground, did you do that or just chassis ground it up under the dash somewhere? The sender signal wire is connected and the ignition is also correct. The sender is grounded to the chassis directly fwd and above the fuel tank. I have replaced all chassis wiring with a painless harness and the ecu harness was done by waitformeperformance

I tied the gauge ground in with the grounds for the other gauges. Sounds like you have it right. As long as the fuel gauge & the sender both have a neg grounded, it should work. If you still have a problem, check ohms coming from the sender.

Well got to the bottom of it, when I first put fuel in the tank I thought it had a leak in the sump weld, so I dropped the tank and my buddy pressure tested it (it was fine) and then he reinstalled the tank, and the sender--SIDEWAYS:lol:-- the tank has two indents for receiving the sender and he had rotated it 90 degrees, thanks for the help though
