I am supercharging our 62 Ford Falcon and dropped a 3" intercooler between the radiator core support and grill. Unfortunately, this is the spot where the stock hood release goes. The stock hood release needs 3.75" to work and I have just about 2.5" left for the hood release. On the stop I have a single 3/8" fine thread to work with and can use anything for the hood release but it must be a maximum of 2.5" deep. I am cool with any modification that will allow me not to use hood pins.

I have attached a photo of what I have available right now. I have removed the bottom portion since the photo but could attach some type of hood release on this piece.

Any ideas of another hood release that might work in this situation?

Thanks!

Craig

What about an electric release like some Ford and GM vehicles use to hold down the decklids. The motor doesn't take up that much room and you could adapt the U shaped and attach it do the underside of the hood. Just take a stroll through the salvage yards and see what else jumps out at ya. I would add some sort of safety latch for back up just in case it decides to let go while you're traveling down the street. Good luck.
