12 bolt detroit

Ok Im stumped. I just pulled the cover off my 12 bolt and found out it has a detriot locker in it. :) But the carrier has no access hole for the c-clips. I removed all the bolts for the brake backing plate, and of course the axle shaft wont come out. How is it even possible to assemble it with a detriot and c-clips? How do I get the shafts out?

So I slid a pry bar between the axle end and the brake backing plate, and they just popped out. I guess Im just retarded.

A slide hammer with the proper end work best.
