In my search to find out all the information possible before I install my rear Wilwood 140-7140 brakes on my 68 I found a few posts that talk briefly about moving the caliper location from the rear (Wilwood design I believe) to a front mounted caliper. Seeing as this really messes with the parking brake cable direction and forces you to run the cables out the rear and then looped to the front why would anyone want to do this? Am I missing some serious upgrade advantage by putting the caliper in front of the axle?

Jason - I have an idea for you, it'll match the fronts. Call me tomorrow...

I don't know if you ran across one of my posts, but the only reason I did that was because of clearance issues. My setup isn't really off the shelf, so-to-speak, so I wouldn't worry about yours not fitting as intended. In my opinion, if what you have works, don't try to fix it.

Hey Ron,

Sorry I got a little carried away yesterday and didn't get a chance to call. Truth be told I was under the car for about 12 hours and was just having a good-ole-time! I got the rear together as well as the body bushings and the sub connectors. That was about 4 hours of fighting to get all the measuring correct and get everything lined up just right but wow what a difference in rigidity! Here's what I ended up with on the brakes..
