I will soon be installing some slide-a-link bars on my 69 camaro. I am debating on using the supplied solid bushing or to stay with my polygraphite bushing thats already in there. I would like to have the wheel hop eliminated but I mostly drive it on the street with minimum drag trips. What have others done and what do you all like?

I thought the same thing when I installed mine. The existing bushings won't work as they are too wide to accomodate the front pivot arm. Ride quality is not sacrificed but it does seem to oversteer just a little more than before.

I will be getting rid of mine soon. Depending on your combination and since you stated it was mostly strret driven, IMO you will be better with just a better rear spring. My Hotchkis rears didn't hop and I have a 500 hp/500 lb ft 383.

Out of curiosity, why are you getting rid of yours?

I went ahead and installed the slide-a-links with my hotchkis rubber bushings. I already have the hotchkis leaf springs and the bushings they came with. My wheel hop was not that bad before even with my 315/35-17 but I liked all the pros that the slide-a-link offered. When installing the bars I did have to shave about 1/8 inch off both sides of the rubber bushings to allow the slide a link brackets to fit. With the rubber bushings the bars seem to work great. I am still trying to adjust them properly and was wondering if anyone had some advice for adjustments.

I as well as a bunch of other syclone/typhoon ppl use a similar set up called Cal Tracs. While not really the same vehicle as an F body because ours are basically a 4wd truck but both do use similar leaf spring rear suspension and we have some ppl cutting 1.4x 60ft times with them.

Anyways, one full turn of preload on both sides seems to work the best for most ppl with the Caltracs so you might try the same just to give you a place to start. Here is a vid of a leaf spring suspensioned syclone cutting a 1.44 60ft launching at 10psi off the foot brake to judge for yourself.

The only time they make any diference is at the drags with slicks. Loosened up a little on the street (so my rear can actually bump and keep my kidneys intact) they don't do anything. I don't go to the drags very often and I don't like the way they look. It just seems to dirty up the lines of the car.

One turn is a good place to start, just remeber to do it with the proper weight in the front seat to simulate driver weight. This REALLY helps it launch straighter.
