How long did it take you to weld up the hood?

Cool project! I'm not usually one for the "over the top" details like that (hood scoops and valence setup) -- but the work looks excellent.

I didn't weld the hood in one sitting. It was a good bit of welding though. My guess is it would be about 4 hours of welding if welded all at one time. Alignment of the skin from the Maverick hood was the key, because it has a raised ridge in the center from front to back (like the mustang hood). The skin also had to be fitted side to side so the original lines of the Mustang hood about 3" from the edges of the front fenders remained intact. I still have to do some filling and sanding before the hood is finished, but the pics give you an idea of what it will look like. I have always liked the Grabber Hood design, but I have only seen pics of it on one Mustang (a 67 that I found on the internet).

Thanks for the kind words. It is a ton of work restoring one without modification, and with so many mods planned, it is daunting... I am trying to strike the balance between "one of a kind" and "too over the top". But that is the fun thing with cars. They are "yours" and you can be as creative as you like.. With the right tools, time, and money you can do just about anything.

I think the Grabber is AMAZING !! I think that its a Ford in a Pro-GM-Touring world is even better. I think the drawing is great. I would look for one of the many artisits who do renderings for the Pro-Touring community and get them to translate into a full-on rendering.

I know with my up coming project I had 100's of sketches, notes on napkins, backs of invoices etc... lol. My wife, of all people said "just send those out & get the Damn rendering... you won't be happy until you "see" what you are headed for..." Gotta love her...

Best advice I've been given... spend what you can, get a rendering to have a vision of where you are going.

Keep the updates coming.

I went "green" on these and recycled some old valve cover tops with "power by ford" stamping to weld into the fender. Not sure if I will use the chrome "mustang" letters between the insets or not.

Love the grabber scoops. I've suggested using those on either side of the hood ridge on a 69/70. Thought it would look pretty cool. Like the "Power by Ford" also.

Lowering of the rear quarter to better match the height of the rockers turned out pretty nice. CNC machined plates to allow flush mounting of the Maxima LED tailights are welded in. Can't wait to finish the body filler and sanding..
