Just wanted to post an update to my 71 Boss 351 Mustang. Its 95% finished. Just need to install the TKO-600 and tweek the suspension and brakes. Its a real numbers matching Boss with a stroked 351 Boss (Blue Thunder intake) and original sheetmetal. Just changed the gas cap to the cooler looking nos Mach cap. Global West all around, Baers, Edelbrock shocks, MOMO, 3" exhaust, you get the picture. At first I didn't like the wheels but they have grown on me. I had the Salt Flats powdercoated black and they look sort of retro on the car and match the theme I was going for, IMO.

My numbers matching 70 Boss 302 will soon be finished. Need to redo the interior and choose the wheels. That car has TCP all around, richmond 6spd, Wilwood 6-piston, Bud Moore mini ram intake, ect...

65 Mustang has 525HP 427 stroker windsor, NOS, global west all around, ect...Needs better brakes, wheels, TCP bracing in motor compartment, new alum rad, and new seats (just got Honda s2000 seats for it) and other minor details. Its a true GT and I will be badging it as such along with reinstalling its oem foglight assembly.

I really appreciate this forum since the oem crowd has nearly chastised me for doing this to my cars, but I really don't give a s**t. They are way better this way.

It took me 10 years to get them to this point...Any comments will be appreciated...I also need to choose a theme name for my stangs...any ideas?

Awesome collection. The Salt Flats and knock offs look great on the 71. Those cars tend to look kind of ordinary. You made it look special. I t should inspire others to choose this overlooked Mustang. That steering wheel on the 71 looks out of place, though IMO.

The color on your 65 looks custom? Is it?

Thanks for the compliments...

ViperBlue68 you have a keen eye, yes its a custom green candy with some gold metal flake. The stripes are silouette in gold. More pics are attached. Changing the wheels on the 65 to the Edelbrocks pictured which used to be on the 71.

Streetfytr68, I am also at odds with the steering wheel but I am starting to like it. Its a MOMO Tornado and I chose it because of the yellow accents and the pushbuttons on it for future NOS. Still undecided on it.

ProdigyCustoms...nice name, just might use it!

Anyone else with a theme name for the stangs??

Yes, thats what I meant, it has ghost stripes. For the life in me, couldn't remember the term. I'm not in CA but about 2hrs from San Antonio.

10 years is not long even for one car, really- and you have 3 further along than most! I hope you can stop and let it sink in once in awhile. Of all those cars, that 70 Boss should be the one slammed and really snarling along with some polished 17s or 18s filling the wheelwells. And while I hate to end on a less positive note, that steering wheel is ricer bling and totally out of place. Sorry if that's brutal but you did shop for comments, and strangers can be honest. Your cars look awesome. I once painted the underside of my gray-primered 65 mustang's hood yellow in a burst of 16 year old inspiration, so I am not without sin either. We live, we learn.

Now that I think of it, it can be ricer bling...I have MOMO on all three Mustangs. I guess I have a long held attachment to MOMO's....back when I was barely a teenager I picked up a 74 Superduty 455 TA and it had a MOMO. I felt invinicible in that car until it was stolen and the shell was dumped on rail road tracks. I can always sell them off on eBay...Any other alternatives?? I do not like Grant, originally I was looking at Lecarra or Flaming River like pictured below but I think it looks HOT ROD style.

I had one of those Flaming River Waterfall wheels in my hands a coupla weeks ago while building a paddle shifter for the Poison Dart project. It's a very special looking wheel. It has a lot of character. I never really liked it in pictures--but in person it is awesome. Very nice quality too.
Here is one of the pix from a Power Tour thread.

Nice cars, but the yellow steering wheel is out of place. How about "Wild Horses"?

a great collection. the 65 is new, right? the green/gold is beautiful. I'd leave the Americans on -- they
"fit" the car.

name suggestion: unstable. stable is equestrian themed, and "un" refers to the non-stock nature
of your cars. "unstable" also probably captures what the concours crowd thinks about you!

That's right, the green one is somewhat new. "Unstable" is a fantastic name! I will incorporate it somehow into the theme name!Hmm, "Unstable Ponies/Mustangs"? Thanks...

Hey fellow comrades,

I just got in from a visit from the shop where the final mechanical and suspension details are being addressed, the engine compartment bracing is in. I will be finishing the interior myself. Recaros just arrived, got them for less than $800!
GSXRKEN read my mind, I had the car dropped 3-3.5" in the rear and about 2.5 up front. I have coilovers on the front so they can still be dropped more. The pics do not do the stance justice, it really looks low in person. In fact, my mufflers got jammed on the ramps peak when exiting the garage.
I have narrowed down the wheel choice to the 200S pictured in oem finish or black?? My intention was to put 18" Minilites but only found 16" or 17" with a width of only 7"...too small. Trying to base it off the look of the early Mustangs in the TransAm era. I am thinking 255's ft, and 275/285 rear in 18" diameter, these wheels seem to fit the look.
Please let me know your thoughts..good or bad, its all good with me.

Looks good Frank, they are taking care of you.
I never liked those rims...maybe if I see them on it. I like the ones you have now...them or some Fikse.

I also disliked those rims, until I thought maybe the centers in black and large spinners...might complement the black stripes on the car. Trying to stay away from the all polished rim. The rims on the car now look whimpy, IMO. They are edelbrock 454's in the rear with 245/45/17's and TTII's on the front on 255's. They are on there just for mockup. Anyone with more thoughts or pics of rims that could fit the look of the car? A pic would help..

I like 18" Bullitts, Magnums, or 454s. The size you have in mind sounds good.

Forgot to mention that you can't go wrong with the 200S in either color although i would personally go with the OEM as pictured.

9.5 rear and 9.0 front rims should fit if the backspacing is correct.
