57 Bel Air. --

- second owner (bought from original owner in 80s and has an '81inspection sticker).
- original freshened motor.
- all chrome, original seats, guages. Body looks solid and has patina, can see original color, was recently 'freshened' - I probably wouldn't paint it.
- front disks, lokar pedal. Good glass. overall seems very solid.

Owner wants $12k. Money talks. What's it worth? If I could even get it for 8 with a few parts suspension could be very mean and I bet I could get 20 out of it?

I take it its a 2 door..283? If it has no rust and that's a big IF on those cars. He is not far off i would say 10k maybe a bit less. Having said that, To get your 20k you need more than a few things.

2 door sedan or hardtop? A hardtop will bring more money but to get $20K back out of it, you will have some work to do. If its a sedan, then you probably wont get that even if you paint it.

Not all Tri-fives are Bel-Air's... It was a trim package. The lowest one was a 150, then a 210, then the Bel-Air. If its not a real Bel-Air, then you may be able to knock the price down a little.

To get 20k back out of it, it better be at least a nice hardtop. 'Verts pull a lot of $$$
