I'm getting ready to remove some original 74 Firebird seats in black vinyl and replace them with racing seats shortly. I'd like to do something cool with the old seats such as an office chair conversion or make a "couch" out of them with some sort of wood frame with, idunno, a bench seat truck console mounted in between them to hold drink cans and the like. Any crazy ideas or have you already done something similar? They are going into a man cave.

Sounds Cool, want to see it if/when you get it done!

Yep, similar project, I had to scrap a nice '71 Skylark, and removed the complete rear section (back seat to trunk/rear bumper), and am working on making it a "couch" for the garage, too.

Reupholstered rear seats (found new rear seat upholstery for $25 on Ebay), ordered new lower floor ($100 from TPP), installing car stereo system (trunk mounted stereo with remote & 6x9's in rear deck), on a homemade steel frame for support & mobility, to look like the back 1/2 of a Convertible '70 Skylark.

Be resourceful, use what you already have, but don't overspend, and enjoy it!

Whenever I begin to do this I'll be sure to post pics. It's not my car so who knows when I'll be able to start. On a positive note, while stationed in FT hood a local interior shop had a bad arse couch that was made from a 55-57 chevy back seat in crazy pastel blue and white vinyl.
