My wife went to Roller Derby tryouts the other night and made the League...she now has the task of picking a name. For those that don't know what Roller Derby is, it is a pretty cool alt-sport that is actually the fastest growing sport in the US and has a pretty big following in Texas. Imagine 10 women in skimpy outfits skating really fast around an oval track and roughing each other up to get points.
(bad explination, but easiest way to say it)

So, back to this naming thing. I always like getting advice from the good folks on this board, and this is no exception...Above are the final choices we have come up with, but please feel free to add your own if you have one.

*disclaimer* Modern Roller Derby is not like the violent bloodbath of the 70's. Theres rough-housing, but it is very controlled.
Here is a bit of an example

What's your wife's name? Just her first name. Someone may be able to come up with something great using her name.

Whip It! is a good movie about a girl getting involved in roller derby. It's accurate about the sport too. No idea about the type of girls that participate as I'm sure that varies widely but the sport is covered accurately. Good movie regardless.

Her first name is Annie and she has said for years that if she ever decided to go roller derby, her name would be Lil' Annie the Orphan Maker. Now that the reality is here and she has to actually find a name, she is coming up with others, and our friends are helping as well. That and the name is a lot to fit on the back of a shirt.

Ann E Briated or Annie Briated is just a funny play on her name

Speedy go Braless is a play on Speedy Gonzalez, but the national registry of RD names has a Speedy GoneBraless, so this may be out of the running

Hot Wheels Wallace is a play on the fact that we have 5 cars :)

And yes, Whip It is a good movie. I wish we went to see it in the theater--The song "The stars at night are big and bright (CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP) deep in the heart of Texas" is so driven into Texans that I can only imagine that there was a theater full of people clapping! My wife and I clapped instinctively during the scene when we watched it at home. lol

lol, now that I am in the panhandle of Texas, I can attest to the fact that the stars are big and bright.

I like Lil' Annie the Orphan Maker. I'd try to make that fit on the shirt.
