I wanted to share our latest Project named "SSAWD"
It is a 1968 Camaro that we ssawd in half and added a 2010 Camaro rear clip, then we ssawd the roof of and made it a full time
Roadster convertible. next we we ssawd the front valance off and sectioned it so we can Fit the Large Procharger Intercooler in there.
Then we ssawd the floor out and channeled the body over a custom frame 5 Inches. Built a customer floor pan moved the front seats back
9 inches and made it a 2 seater pulled the steering column and pedals back 5 inches, layed back a custom windshield 6 inches,
We will be building a custom tonno cover with speedster humps, Building a LS motor to handle the Big Procharger,
Narrowed and mini tubbed rear end, Wide Body and ground effects kit, Oh yea Did I tell you
it will be ALL WHEEL DRIVE as well.
Get the name now.
"SSAWD" look for it late this year. may be a Sema Debut or LS Fest. I will keep you all posted.
Still have a few things to work out but it should be pretty bad......

Here is the rough draft of the Project. I have not desiced on the paint scheme yet but this is the first draft. I love the Hugger orange but seem like its been done alot. So I am trying to make up my mind on colors and if I want to go with graphics. I paint alot of graphics so I really think i will end up with something on it.....

Interesting concept, and probably what Chevy should have done anyway! The AWD idea is awesome and very original. Hope it gives the performance to match!
Just too much body kit in my very humble opinion. Reminds me of the old Vettes when guys would order everything in the Eckler's catalog...

Do wish you best of luck in getting it done for SEMA. I'm sure it will be very well received.

Cool concept, but the rear wheel/tire looks extremely small in that huge opening? Maybe its the angle of the picture? Would have to see it on all 4s outside to really tell.

customshop
10-18-2011, 07:20 PM
they are a 20" wheel so they are not small. with the wide body they fit it nicely also we have it on air ride so it lays out 1" off the ground when it down.
I will post some pis when it is finished so you can see what it looks like.

darkgable79
10-19-2011, 03:56 AM
I agree. We know that 20s aren't small, but when a car goes to the wide body concept it makes 20s look small. Maybe the angle of the picture just enhances it. I'm sure it'll look as intended with more pics and on the ground.

Love the build though. Can't wait to see more pics and how it finishes up.

Well, 20s do look tiny on the new Camaro's, and seeing how this is half of a new Camaro... I dont know though, still going to wait to see full side shots of the car outside on the ground before I make any final decision.

Congrats! your build is really coming together nicely. IMHO the ground effects etc... are just fine on an over the top project like this. What would people say if you built an AWD that looked like a base model V6 car with no spoiler etc.... You can't please everyone. The only peron you need to please is yourself!

I can't remember; are you running ABS and traction control? Don't let this thread die once the car hits the road. The best part is yet to come.... How does she drive?????

Got the Massive Procharger Blow Off Valve installed as is all of the pluming for it.

as for some of you ? I made all of the carbon fiber peices here at my shop they are Fiberglass and then Carbon fiber covered still gives you the carbon look but not quite as light weight.

While I can certainly respect the work involved, in my opinion there is no cohesion. Nothing flows. The front looks like a snowplow and those rockers look like gutters turned on their sides.
The interior is all over the place. Is it supposed to be modern, classic, retro or what? The 7" screen in the deck lid is just out of place. That insert could be 1/10th the size with a screen that fits the lid.

But those are just my opinions.

I am impressed with the technical side of it (awd) but somehow the look of the car reminds me of a '80s custom car and that doesn't cut it for me.... I would like to see it go down a track and see if the awd is an advantage.

If you tucked in the side skirts and the front air dam corners it would look thinner.
About 3" too tall on the air dam for me - JMO
