I ordered a new rearend for the 67 camaro and got 5/8 studs not thinking about the fact I have a protouring/street car and wheel choices would be limited. My drag wheels will fit fine, but now the 18's I have will no longer work.

Just wondering what options I have available? I'm very picky on wheels, so i bet this is going to turn into a huge headache!!

here it is with the drag wheels

Im sure some of the custom wheel guys would make something. call up NewGen, rushforths, forgeline etc.

My centerlines use a shanked lug nut so they actually have 5/8" holes.

Wouldn't you have an easier time getting the axles redrilled for 1/2" studs?

You could always open up the wheel holes if it's an off-the-shelf wheel, or just have the manufacturer do it if you're buying new custom wheels. Most aftermarket wheel stud clearance holes I've measured have been between .600 and .630, so 5/8" studs wouldn't work without some massaging first. Lug nut and wrench size might be an issue with some wheels as well. Maybe Jon or Justin at DriverzInc.com will chime in as I'm sure they've probably handled something similar before.

Why need the 5/8? I put 1000HP and 1.29 short times to 1/2" studs for many years.

i'm planning over 1000hp, but I wish I would have gone 1/2" stud now. Oh well..too late

I like the redrill for 1/2" stud idea. But if we have a lot of custom billet wheels which could be made for 5/8 studs.

for some reason my axleshafts have a 2nd set already drilled in from moser. It looks like it was tapped for a 5/8 stud then there are vertical lines cut out from the threads....not sure why they are there

You could also get 14mm studs with the right knurl diameter for the holes already in your hubs, that's slightly beefier than 1/2", closer to 9/16", but would fit most standard wheels. Otherwise yeah, have one of these gents hook you up with some wheels to fit your studs.
