Hello all, just introducing myself, already met some cool car enthusiasts in the chat room. My name is John or Johnny K as my SN implies. I have been into building cars and anything mechanical for a long time. This AMC was my first car and I would like to get it back on the road first and then do some major performance mods. Awhile after I first got the AMC a tow truck backed into it, and having not much experience with cars at the time, I put it on the back burner at my friends farm (exposed to the elements). My friend went to serve in Iraq so that turned into never going to his farm, and the car sitting out there in one spot sinking into the mud. But after he came back a few months ago, we went out there and it resparked my love for it and we actually got the engine to start relatively easy after not moving for 6 years. Anyway, I was surprised at the condition of the body (no rust but paint chipping away all over) and was mad I let myself for letting the car go (young and stupid right). Yesterday I removed the many basketball size mouse nests, and hopefully I can find away to get rid of the smell, its already alot better though. Either way, it should be a fun build. Eventually I would like to make it a torque monster, and put a blown 383 in it (it has a Chevy 350 in it at the moment). Anyway, here is a pic of some cars I have recently enjoyed, as you can see im not against anybody with any kind of car who puts their own wrench time in. I do have to say though, im a big aircooled VW and MOPAR fan, but really like anything clean, powerful and/or cool looking. I really respect those who are like minded, and was really impressed with Carroll Shelby interview I saw where he acknowledges the foreign car scene and said was amazed how kids are taking grocery getting economy Hondas and building car which can competitively compete in drag races with much more expensive cars with higher displacement. Anyway, I have the same view, if its your time and your dime, I have nothing but respect. Anyway, enough with the BS, here is a few pics:

There are several of us from MN here...Are you all dialed into the local AMC community? There's some dedicated AMC racers around here. I'm not an AMC guy but I know a couple of 'em.

Not dialed in the local community yet, just on the AMC forum. Im not sure an AMC club would be thrilled about my car since it has a SBC, but you never know!
