i guess i am going to sump my tank for my 68 camaro ls build, what pumps, reg ect are you running.will a external walblo 255 do what it takes to start a ls motor, i have read you need 58psi to start is this true what pump can do this, this is going to be a street car daily driver so i rather not a loud pump like the a1000. thanks kevin.
or if i make tank deeper in a spot can i run like a newer sender and intake pump.

You can use a newer Fuel pump module in the first Gen. fuel tank. This is the setup I am using in my second gen. TA.
Mount the Fuel Pump module so as to retain the stock fuel level sender as the sender on the module is not compatible with the first gen. fuel gauge.

Keep in mind, on a 1st gen, that you'll need at least a 2.5" to 3" sump to fit the 4th gen setup. You'll also need to recess the bucket mount surface roughly 1" for trunk pan clearance.

Any pics of a LS1 pump and sump installed in a 1st gen tank? Installing Holley HP in 68 and would like to use that set up.

As Rhino states in post #3 may require "A 2.5" to 3" sump and a 1" recess in the top of the tank to mount the pump.
The compressed height of the pump is 9".
This link is has good photos installing the pump in a H body tank.
