Ok I am getting the parts together to do a LS6/4L80E swap into my 1972 Chevelle, I am ready to purchase my fuel system. So I was wondering should I use a stock tank with an external fuel pump, or do I should I go with a rockauto or spectra tank?

I do not have the funds for tank like Rick's but really wouls like one though.

Good question, I am in the same dilemma. I would not suggest an external tank. I have had starvation problems with this set up. I would love the Vaporworx or even the sst Rock valley but am leaning to the new in tank Spectra tank. Anydody know where to get this tank?

rock auto has spectra, we quit carrying them due to starvation issues. As much as I liked the lower priced option of the spectra, the gliches were not worth the negatives. We now currently only have DSE or Ricks available

Thanks Tim.

Sorry i misquoted, DSE does not have tanks for A bodies, only F bodies. That would leave Ricks, Spectra, or making your own

Depending on the amount of room you have between the frame rails, you might be able to fit a late model Impala plastic tank in the car. I did this on my car. The frame on my car is the same dimension used on the '90-'96 Impala. I picked the tank up at the junkyard with the pickup for $50. The tank is 23.5 gallons. I run a Racetronix harness and Walbro 255 liter pump that fits in the stock location. Works great and looks stock.

Later-A-body, how low does the tank set in your car? I have read some on this install but most say you have to cut in to the trunk pan because of the pump/sending unit sets up in the tank. If you do not cut the trunk then it sets further down, how much further does it set?
