Hey guys, I see that pretty much everyone using Wilwood brakes is using a 6 piston front setup. I have a 4 piston front dyna lite kit that I bought at a good price... but anyway, is there much difference between the 2? I'd think between either one, it's still the grip of your tire that limits your stopping ability??? Just wondering what the difference is.

Buddy your with what you have previously mentioned about the use of your car the 4 piston will be fine. You are correct in that it is the tire that has the final say about the braking, but there is more to it than just that.

If you are asking what one is better then I would say the 6 piston.

Another big difference is the rotor width.

Most of the Wilwood 4 piston setup brakes have rotors that are .81" thick.

The 6 piston setups are usually 1.125" I believe.

Of course the thicker, heavier rotors are going to take more heat build up before warping.

While the 6-piston deal is better to some degree at braking than the 4-piston deal (extra pressure and rotors as mentioned) I still think most people get the 6-piston mainly for the "oooh ahhh" factor and that they just look so nice.

I have had them (wilwood 6-pistons) on two of my cars and am very happy with how they perform AND look..

Lots of guys run the 4 piston deals on the track and seem very happy with them.

I agree. I have the 4 piston on my big 64 Dodge and they seem to do the job.

The 6 pistons look nicer though!

I have Dynalite IIs all around and they work fine. I agree, the 6 pistons look better.

6 piston Superlites have alot less piston area. So you will have a harder pedal. Maybe TOO hard

My wilwood 4 piston 12 inch setup seems to work very well, but i have only driven like 3 miles on them so far :( will keep you informed on how they work when its running right.
