This is an FYI for anyone deciding to use TransDapt 1" set back mounts. I wanted something inexpensive to mock up with before I made my own. TransDapt mounts were inexpensive (like 55 bucks from Summit) and came with the plates and mounts to bolt to them. I wasn't happy with the shotty coating on the plates, but everything was steel and laser cut. I sanded and repainted the plates. I needed to sand an ear on the plate to miss a boss on the block on both sides. Once I set the engine in, everything did bolt up to my stands the first time so I was pretty happy. The pass side head is too close to the DSE firewall plate for my comfort (try 1/4"). I will be re-drilling the mount plates at least a 1/2" more forward. I was hoping to get away with my factory Fbody pan without trimming (I've read where others have been able to). Even in this far back position the steering was too close for my comfort (about 1/2"). Once I'm happy with the position, I'm planning on milling myself a nice set out of aluminum, but thats down the road. I want to be sure the pan, steering, etc. have enough room before I finish.
Here are a couple phone pictures of the TransDapt mounts in their position. I only had the pass head and Dynatech header on last night.
