Hi, I'm Mike. This site caught my attention so I thought I would give it a try. I occasionlly read blogs but get turned off by loud mouth, know nothings. My initial impression here is that this is for true enthusiasts. I have a 1975 Trans Am with the 455HO option (a station wagon engine in 75). I have since modified it, mostly in the early years, although I trying to complete a long term project this summer. I bought the car with the goal of pro-touring it. Of course, back then no such term existed. My model that I worked off of was the mid 70's BMW 635CSL and I decided to try to build a car that would be a Pontiac version of this. If Pontiac was really serious and decided to build such a car, that was going to be my goal. A factory special. Luckily for me shortly after I got the car, Herb Adams came out with the FireAm packages, which was exactly what I was looking for. That was my start. The frame lowering kit, solid frame bushings and braces, ducted brakes, rollbar. I was, an still am very impressed with what he offered and the quality of parts. The frame braces was the biggest improvement I made to the enjoyment of the car. I have since added very expensinve Recaro seats, The brakes grew an inch and were drilled. The engine only contains the original block and it has several thousand dollars of machining done to it including 4 bolt mains. It has become very fast, great handling and surprisingly good braking. I also molded my own fiberglass front end which now has no grills and the radiator air comes in under the bumper through a large air dam. I loaned the car out one day (and yes, I don't know what I was thinking of) but it returned with a spun rod bearing. It took a while to detect and the diagnose and by then I was on to a different life. I parked the car in 1998. What was to be a winter repair has ended up being a 13 year project. I have protected the car well (it has about 45K miles on it) but it needs its 3rd headliner. But the project has expanded to an aluminum head, .030 over, forged everything, fuel injected overkill of an engine plus all the things you have to add to support such an engine. I hope th start the engine this summer. I got a little sidetracked and bought an old Honda Interceptor and it is needing more work than I thought to get on the road but I still plan on getting the Firebird going.
So that is my story. I am curious to see what this blog turns into. Good conversation, tips, making friends or this this going to be just another loud mouth blog. I've never done this so I don't know all the protecol and tricks. You'll have to guide me as we go along. Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike. Welcome to the site. The first thing is that this a forum, not a blog. I fixed your title.

You'll find this site supportive, friendly, and full of information and advice. If you have any photos, post them here in this thread. We like photos. :)

And, as an aside, your post is hard to read. It would be easier on the eyes if you would break it into paragraphs.

welcome, as everyone above has mentioned, show us you car, or start a build log, that might even be better for you. I've found this site to much more level-headed as a whole than most other forums

Boy! This sounds like fun. Right now I am working off of my work computer as my home computer is in the shop. I will gladly provide any information I can about my car or try to provide helpful advice since I know
2nd gen F-bodies pretty well. I will provide photos as I do have plenty of them. Probably a little at a time so I don't bore anyone. Since I can ask questions, I have photos before this last project which looks about 99% of what the finished product will look like. So, should I start with the before, work through the project and finish, either with a final photo if I get done, or a photoshop of what I am going to do. The change all has to do with the front spoiler. So let me know. I also hope to get involved some with the chat room. Thanks all for the comments. Mike
