So my 78 camaro is primered a dark grey right now and i am wondering roughly what color it could turn out to be if i layed a silver base coat over it?

Guess I dont really follow your question. If you had a panel that was silver with say a white primer and then a adjacent one with the dark grey you might notice a difference but it would be on the order if a lighter/darker variant . Additionally silver tends to be a pretty solid color as far as transparency goes.

Oh i see i didnt know if it would come out between the two colors or just be a more dull silver. Im looking for a color in between silver and gun metal but i dont know much about how primers affect color lol

Silver is a little on the transparent side, because there is not a lot of pigment in it. It's mostly metallic and balancer and binder. Enough coats will get it to the right color but if you use a light gray sealer first it will get you there quicker. Go to your local paint store and ask to look at there color books to find the color you want.

you could also ask the paint shop not to use as much balancer and binder that the formula calls for.
