My father owns an aircraft repair facility so every now and then he'll get information on new products/services etc. This weekend while working on my firebird we had a discussion about some paints from PPG that are going to be hitting the market.

According to him the paints are like the Harlequin paints offered by PPG however it looks like a candied/high metallic paint with an irodescent(SP?) quality to them. Apparently paint chips haven't even been shipped to suppliers yet.

I'll be heading down to his show either this week or next to check these colors out. If they are as nice looking as he states I may end up painting at least part of the car in one of these colors.

My local paint store is getting rid of all of his HOK stuff and stocking this line. He assures me that it's every bit as good or better than the HOK. I haven't used it yet. I'm causiously optomistic. Anybody sprayed this yet? Compared to HOK?

I think you're referring to the vibrance collection. I saw the paint chips and a test panel about 2 months back. The liquid crystal line looks ridiculous. The body shop that had my car were supposed to be spraying two cars w/ this paint I'll have to see if they finished yet.

That is their Harlequin line. I had a small amount of the red-blue harlequin sprayed on the hood of my previous 2002 GT. looked good.

This new stuff I have not yet seen. Like the harlequin and Dupont Chromolusion paints this is probably something best used in moderation. painting all or even half of the car may be overkill.
