I am about to pull the trigger on a set of either 18x7 or 18x8 front rims for my Mustang but dont know what backspace to order. I am running Wilwood brakes which kicked the wheels out 1 inch from stock on both sides in the front. I have all the room on the inside, I dont have much on the outside.
I am currently running a 26 inch front runner on 15x3.5 Champion Racing wheels with a 2.25 backspace. Even with this setup, there is very little clearance between the outside tire lip and the fender, and even less should the suspension compresses when the wheel is turned ever so slightly.
What would my existing setup translate to for a 7 inch rim? or an 8 inch rim? I think an 18x8 with a 5.5 backspace would work, but I'd prefer to run a 7. Will a company like intro or billetspecialties even make a 7 inch rim with 5 inch of backspace? Thoughts?
