Now i know this is not the normal build for this site but there are a lot of smart ppl on here so i figured i would ask anyway. Pulled a SB350 out of my 77 Blazer and stripped it down and am rebuilding it. Only thing im keeping from the current engine is the block (4 bolt main) and the crank. Current plans for a set up are Iron Eagle S/S heads 165cc intake 72cc chamber. Edelbrock performer RPM cam shaft .488/.510 @ the valve, 234/244 duration @ .050. Edelbrock performer intake. Now the questions is, does this set up sound good and i still havent decided on a carb. My buddy is trying to sell me his 650 Edelbrock Thunder Series. Just looking for some good discussion to help me make a good choice. The end goal being that i put it back in my 1977 K5 Blazer.

What is your goal for this motor? As of right now that cam is out of place. You got heads and an intake that give up at 5500 and a cam thats good to 6500.

Well im going to stick it back in my 77 Blazer and have a 4x4 that's got a little somthing under the hood. I wont be running this SB350 over 5500, however all specs i see on the Edelbrock performer RPM show it good up to 6500 rpm. Anyone elso got any thoughts?

The cam is good to 6500 but the rest is not. So your giving up some low end torque (which you want for a 4x4) for a higher rpm cam that never gets used to it potential. If you don't have any upper parts yet I would suggest looking into some vortec heads, matching performer intake, and a xe268, or xe262. It should get your truck up and moving with little trouble.

You must be looking at the performer not the performer rpm line, im looking at it right now on the jegs website and it says 1500-6500 rpm.

IM basically building around a set of Dart Iron Eagle S/S heads that im getting a good deal on, so thats the part of the build i want to stick with and see if i can build a rly good set-up around them.
