We had some really bad wind Saturday and something tore up the driver side of my car...

The scratches are really deep, they go down to the metal, in some places it feels like to dug in to the metal. Insurance people come out tomorrow to appraise the damage.

Something got caught under my car cover or the straps rubbed on the paint and I guess the wind just kept whipping whatever it was back and forth for hours during the day. The paint was almost flawless before that.

Does the car cover have the locking cable style?
Was the damage just on the 2 fender edges?
Damn, that hurts to just look at it.

No, it was tied down with straps and rope. On the passenger side theres a single scratch on the front wheel well.

Was the whole country getting blown around on Saturday, it was crazy here in Phoenix too. Sorry to hear about the damage, that sux. I hope I can get my car together before I or something does something similar to my paint.

Update: Insurance came and gave me what seems to be a fair estimate. Should I use this opportunity to change the color, since I was going to originally?

Read your policy small print.....It may be a like for like policy. The insurance loss adjusters may jump on any innocent twist of a clause!

What does that mean?

They gave me enough for almost a new paint job, so it seems pretty fair to me. The guy told me due to the fact that these cars have no break from quarter to roof, even areas not affected would have to be "refinished" because blending wouldn't work.

I hate car covers, they damage more cars than they help. I use mine only when I am painting and don't want to get any chance of over spray on the car.

Yellow is actually rather easy to blend, especially if it is acrylic enamel like on mine. Is yours BC/CC or something else? Changing colors is up to you but if you don't seize the opportunity to do the whole car again you will probably regret it even if you go the same color. It takes time and work to make a car really straight and you are more close to it now than you ever will be and doing it one more time will get you closer.

Man that was one mean piece of something to do that, are you sure the BIG dog or cat in the neighborhood didn't chew and grab onto your car for awhile while humping your tires, lol.
