Hey everyone. I registered over a year ago but this is my first post. My name is Kevin and my project is a 66 Caprice that was my Dad's car. Brought it up to Chicago from Arkansas in 2003 as a bone stocker 396/Powerglide with hubcaps & whitewalls.

The first phase was Winter 03-04 which included a 700R4, 4 wheel disc brakes, drop spindles & drop springs, Hotchkis suspension and 17" Cragars. I took it on Power tour 2004 and 2005 but it's kind of languished in the garage for the most part since then.

I bought a Cadillac Escalade L92 engine and 6L90e trans and phase II is underway. I'm still collecting parts and doing a lot of internet research. In addition to the drivetrain swap, the 66 is getting Ridetech air ride, 13” front discs to replace the 11’s, a custom dash cluster and new wiring. Here are a few pics taken along the way.

Finally someone doing one of these! My dad had one in HS too and I have been searching for years to find him and I another one, finally did and we may have a deal struck, but it will take some work, car has been sitting for 20 years as I tried to buy it when I was in HS and I heard the old "someday I will fix it up" and one day I went back by and it was still setting dead in the weeds. Hope to go get it this spring when all dries up. Keep posting updates, cool ride.

Thanks everyone for the welcome & the compliments.

kochevy67: I'm from Naperville. I've brought the car out to the cruise nights in Plainfield, Downers Grove and Morris a few times.

Just curious what motor mount adapters you will be using for the conversion?

I bought the $29 eBay ones but haven't mocked up the engine yet to make sure they're going to work. I'm going to be using an LS1 F-Body oilpan, and sending it to S&P for modification to fit the chassis.

Cool, see you on a weekend cruise. I usually go to the A&W in North Aurora...

Kevin I have a LS in my 67 Chevelle and I used a Hummer LH8 pan and it fits fine with no notching to anything. And I never been to those cruise nights but I may have to check them out this summer. I like Elmhurst because it is a half hour away at best. Good luck with the swap
