Ive been tryin to do my reading and research and have learned a lot. Some of it being how much more to swapping there really is. It seemed so simple in my head at first lol.

My plan was a 6L and I found a wrecked 03 silverado ss with 60k miles. I can get the complete motor for 1500. Thats been the best deal Ive come across so far. Now Ive read it being an 03 it should have the return style fuel rails which Ive heard are easier to work with? The concern I really have is the DBW throttle. I know it could make it work but I'm thinkin DBC would be easier, just trying not sure how to go about swapping the TB or if I really can? Id really like to jump on this motor id just really hate to buy it and not be able to make it work. And for the tranny I'm wanting an 80e but havent sourced one yet. I'm hoping computer wise I can get them to work in harmony

For fuel system I was thinking a camaro tank and pump turn and mounted in my 67 bird. Has anyone tried this? The back half of the car is going to be sheet metal so I'm sure I can fit it some how.

Thanks for the help and for the help I havent asked for yet.

The LQ9 in the high output 6.0L found in the SS Silverado. A lot of people have used those with great success and it is definately a great bang for the buck LS motor. It is rated at 345 HP and with a little cam, some springs and a tune you can add close to 100 HP. You will need to swap the intake to get it to fit under the hood. A used LS2 or LS6 intake can be found pretty cheap ($200). I have seen a few threads were people have managed to get the truck accessories to work but most switch to F-body, corvette, or aftermarket.

Since you are pulling it out of a wreck make sure to get the DBW pedal, ECM, TCM, O2 sensors, and wire harness. This could save you a lot of money. It is not any harder to use the DBW throttle body so don't let that scare you. With the stock harness you will most likely have to moutn the ECM under the hood but that is not the end of the world (Mark Steilow's LS9 powered Red Devil has the ECM mounted on the inner fender).

As for the tank, if you are trying to use a GM stock unit I think the most success has been made with the Caprice tanks. Try searching this forum for some more info there.

Good luck.
