Looking for input on an idea.
About to do an engine upgrade on my LS1 in my 68 Camaro, and one area I'm trying to work out is the air intake which could hold back engine output. Attached is pic of current (very stock) set up.

There appears no room to do an over the radiator intake and this appears to be the only area that airflow can really enter the engine bay, due to radiator sport and lights/rally sport covers which cover front.

Thinking was to get a custom radiator made that was 2" lower than "standard" and then build air intake to fit. Between, under the radiator support and on top of radiator. This would then be about the same height as throttle body so also would be pretty straight feed.

Cooling currently is not a problem. Could make radiator "thicker" if necessary. Outlet would still be higher than water pump inlet (hope that makes sense). Add close out panel and should be good to go?

Any issues that anyone can think of? Any improvements?

Roger

Have you angled radiator back and then have intake between radiator and radiator support?

Yes I angled the radiator back to match how it was in the 99 Camaro it came out of. The intake goes up and over through a stock style 99 Camaro filter. Randy

what did you do about a hood latch. just have hood pins on it?

I used C5 Corvette hood latches on the outside corners, Pretty much were hood pins would go normally.

I went in the opposite direction with an L88 cowl induction.
