Hey Guys,

I need some opinions on my 65 GTO build. The car is going to the bodyman in a few weeks and I need to make some decisions. I am painting the car black like the one pictured below. I will be using Forgelines satin black centers with chrome hoops. Should I keep the rocker and wheel well mouldings or eliminate them?? The picture of the 67 Lemans below looks very nice and blacked out but I would like to retain the stainless drip rails and window trim on my car. I plan on keeping the stainless trim around the side windows, door handles, side mirrors, etc and do not know if all the trim (including rockers and wheel well) will tie it all together or look strange. Any help/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ken

Leave the rocker trim and wheel lip trim off from the painter. If you like it you can leave it off, if not you can add the trim back later. It will be more difficult to do the reverse.

Kenny, you have plenty of time to think about that, hell by the time you get it back cars will be running on water and possibly flying. Buy a Chevy. LOL

I'm a fan of the rocker trim but not the wheel lip. Good luck ! 65Fastback comments is the safe way to go, trust me what a headache going the opposite direction.

I'm thinking along similiar lines...my car will be Carousel Red (deep orange) and without some trim to break it up, its just too much in my opinion.
I'm going with the wheel moldings and rocker trims....but I'm using 69 Firebird rocker trims which are wider than the 2nd gen Firebird trims...I like the look better.

Really, no one can make up your mind for you....its a personal taste thing and the colour and the theme of the car is what would make my decision for me. My car is being built with an externally "factory" theme to it....so trims and badges fit what I'm doing.

It will look cleaner without the trim
