I just installed the 9in version in my 73 Firebird, very very nice! My son and I did the install in 6 hours from start to finish. Everyting fit perfect, I welded the upper shock/watts link mount in, couldn't believe how straight forward and easy it was. I have to have a new driveshaft made before I can drive it. Thanks BMR you did your homework on this one!!

Man that is sweet! Is it a maufacturer direct purchase or do we go through a dealer?

Since I saw that set up on the Freedom Bird project I wanted one.
One of the things I really like is you can add the torque arm part to a leaf sprung car if you don't want to convert to the full rear set up. Nice.

Chad, I gather then you've had a chance to drive the same cars back to back - before and after fitting the torque arm kits?
Whats you personal impression on the difference between leaf and coil over/torque arm/watts link?

have you ever tried mocking up a 67-69 kit under a 68-74 x-body?

Why do you need a new driveshaft? Because of the new set up?

I haven't moved the car since I put it in, my son pointed out that the tires aren't centered in the wheel well. I'll make adjustments on that in the next couple of days and see if it'll fit then.

Would housing "floaters" be of benefit to this when using leaf springs? Would that allow more articulation in the rear?
I read the install instructions and went "Hmmmmm...."

We are actually starting the R&D on this in a couple of weeks. It will be interesting to see just what is different between the two vehicles. The first gen F-Body and Nova share so much architecture, the kit should require very little modification. With any luck we should have kits available for the X-body by Summer.

Generally the only reason you would want a housing floater is if the leaf springs and the traction device (in this case the torque arm) swing on different arcs with fixed "hinge points". Two different arcs would create bind as the suspension goes through its range of motion unless a floater is used. Our torque arm has a telescoping front slider that rides in a Delrin sleeve. It allows the torque arm to extend or compress as the suspension goes up and down very similar to a driveshaft slip yoke on a transmission. In the case of our torque arm (vs. trans slip yoke), however it is also permitted to rotate so there is no bind during rotation, extension, or compression with this setup.

How does it compare to the AirBar 4 link?
