Woah, don't get your panties in a wad. Afterall, we are having a discussion about a comedian... Do yourself a favor and check out George on Youtube, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I've seen some pretty funny George Carlin bits, but that one was kind of boring... probably because I'm not a fan of any ball & stick sports.

if you were to ask any of those comedians you listed who inspired them to get into standup, they'd all probably mention George Carlin as being one of their biggest inspirations.. look up some of his other stuff- especially his bits about "stuff" and the "7 words you can't say on tv"..

Whooaahh Silver! Chill out, guy. I was just referring to people that are not familiar with George Carlin may just be in the younger set. From the the guys you mentioned (comedians who came on the scene just recently) it seemed like you might be a decade younger. Just thought I would ask. Even if you were younger you may have seen him on Thomas the Train program on PBS.
From your tone it seems as though you are a pretty angry guy. There was another thread where I noticed you were a little snappy.
So ummmmm, let's lighten up. It's just the inter-webs Bro.

Not a big Carlin fan, but that was the cleanest 5 minutes I have ever seen by him. That was pretty funny and very insightful too. I had never put that much thought into the stark differences between the terminology involved with the two sports.

I would say the bit in the OP was less about sports and more about our culture.

Although I loved George, some of his ideals were a little....out there, for what it's worth. I love comedians that make you think after they've made you laugh. Another great one for that was Bill Hicks who was my personal favorite (he is also gone now, RIP).
I am a football junkie. Played football as a kid, high school level. Both my boys play organized tackle football (ESFL). I love it, absolutely love it. College, Pro, I even like going to the High School games.
Baseball is great when you want to take a nap in the Summer. Lie on the couch, turn the baseball game on, and not long after....ZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!

Carlin fans should watch his interview on 'Inside the Actors Studio".. It gives some background.. like the fact the was school in a Catholic Church - but he loved it, and still did at the time of that interview. I got the privilege of seeing him perform live - and let me tell you, he was NOT easy on the crowd, which was great. Something about guys who wear cowboy hats are like children dressing up for Halloween all year long. lol
I like Bill Hicks too... not always funny, but honest.. sometimes brutally.. which, too me, can be considered funny in a certain context.
I've been listening to Joe Rogan alot lately.. he has a similar style and perspective. Good stuff.

he's a rich guy that bought a nice car from a famous builder.. these days, that makes him a "car guy".

If you actually listen you might understand that he doesnt subscribe to any theories - but talks about facts. And he isn't always so damn serious..
he's a rich guy that bought a nice car from a famous builder.. these days, that makes him a "car guy".
So what if he's rich. Are you saying that makes him a poser? And who cares if a rich guy is a poser. Get over it. The hobby needs "rich" guys. And I don't care if they're collectors, owners or builders - at least they're active in the hobby.
Talk about sour grapes.

wow...he payed out the ass? do you know personally how much he spent? the sick fish is a top notch build, id imagine there are several of members here who have close to, or more invested in there cars!!! and yeah, choosing to have a car built such as the cuda, makes him a car guy! who cares how much he spent, and you must know him personally to assume he is too scared to drive his own car! lol get a grip guy!!
