Looking to the future when the L92 project starts & am wondering if I should go the MAST motor sports controller package with their M-90 computer, harness & tune or go with factory harness modified by John @ Speartech & tuned by Norris Motorsports. If Mike tunes it, it will have to be a mail order type tune as I am not in Indiana anymore to do the dyno tune. I am also thinking the GM PCM, modified harness & Norris tune will be a lot more affordable than the $1800 from MAST.

Are you planning on keeping the variable valve timing and are you changing the camshaft? The key here is the interaction of the two. I believe the cam position can be incrementally controlled (as opposed to a two-position setup) on the L92. In this case one has to know how the cam position with the cam used is going to optimize VE at each speed load. So you need someone who's done dyno work on many setups very close to yours (for a mail order tune) or actual dyno tuning on your setup.

Is there anything that the Mast controller offers that the GM does not, and that you need?

No. Not that I know of. But I'm an LS virgin (have one in my truck but it's all stock), and don't fully understand how the VVT works.
