I'm not sure I see the resemblance. I thought Dale Jr's was more stock but I could be wrong?
Currently we are using the stock grill an will keep the split bumper. The parking light buckets have been enlarged to be funtional brake ducts combined with the bumpers. The spoiler is 100% custom.

the DSE car's nose and upper valance is heavily modified. both yours and theirs have elements from a standard camaro nose and an RS nose; the larger grill and lower parking lights from the standard nose w/ the round parking lights and small bumpers from the RS nose.
don't see how you don't see the resemblance; or maybe it's just me :)
please don't take it wrong, I LOVE this car and your work, amazing stuff. I was just asking a question.

So, are you leaving the "scoop" in front of the front wheel well open or putting mesh in it or something like that? That would look frickin awesome!

Also, whats the purpose of sanding all of the metal long before any epoxy goes down? It looks killer and I do the same but I cant see a good reason.

Beautiful work as always.

Wes - I think there will be some kind of mesh in there. They have to get down to the bare metal to do any welding so they sanded the whole car.

OK... Now Im confused.

Anyway... Are we going with a stripped down trans-am racer theme and leaving all this awesomeness exposed or are we covering it up. I vote for leaving it exposed with minimal creature comforts... or at least making it look like it is missing creature comforts.

Awesome build... I've got a Maverick for you when your ready. :D

Can you please tell me if the clamps you show on the harness draped over the steering column are stainless with silicone rubber?

The silicone is not a priority to me but I exhausted several sources seeking stainless straps awhile back. Various plated/coated varieties is all I could find.

This is the first of your builds I have followed but I have seen your finished products. It's really intriguing seeing it come together and picking out all the changes. Thank you for sharing it.

whats the story on the mustang in the background?

It's another one they hope to have done by SEMA. Actually widening the sides of it outwards about 3"!
I visited their shop Friday and I must say you won't find nicer people anywhere! Jim actually came back from lunch and spent time with four of us on a tour of the shop and cars in progress! He and Sean made us feel like old friends and we had just met an hour earlier.
Honestly can't thank them and Nancy and Tammy enough for the hospitality they showed us that day! Thank You!

And MCJ those door handles are killer! That's just an unfinished one on there but the black or grey ones I held in my hands were simply stunning and I may put the black ones on my 72 also. Freakin beautiful piece!

Wow, those hinges are sick! Will there ever be a 67-69 version?

Roberts68
04-25-2011, 06:20 PM
It sounded to me that RB saw a need for the hinge, a necessity due to the lengthy heavy second gen door fatiguing the hinge. Would it not be that they were conceived of form and function before bling?

Those are a damn fine looking hinge...nice and strong.
Any chance of some more detail on them?

please post some more information...what they are made of and what the new engineering entails. they look SICK!!! what is going to make them last vs. the shortfalls of the stock hinges?

The need is FINALLY BEING MET!! Thanks to the Ring Brothers.

Oh, what about price? Did I miss it?

Now if we can talk the Ringbrothers into a set of trunk hinges just as nice with maybe a gas strut versus the torsion rod design of GM I'd be all set. The trunk lid is the second biggest problem on these cars as evidenced by all of the prop rods you see in use on them.

+ 1,000 I would like to see this as well, have thought about the gas struts as well. When I get to area on my 71 Bird I was thinking about trying to add the struts from behind the hinge to help with holding the lid up Vs. being a opener. Like to try to keep them hidden. Something I have seen lately on the newer cars that are sporting monitors mounted on the inside of the trunk lid are billet spacers that go in between the hinge and the trunk lid pocket.

There is a dramatic difference between the 1st and 2nd gen trunk hinge setup, so the gas strut thing on a 2gen trunk may be a bit complicated. I was wondering if someone may be able to use a ratcheting system similar to something like on a air hose reel?

Thanks. Was wondering on the backspace for the front. What was the reason for doing the flares in the front was it because of the front ride height. Im working on a second gen also with the same size fronts and am planning on running it a little lower than normal and the front is tight REAL Tight. i think mine are 6.2 bs

Well, Staci will have to verify it of course but I know back in April/May that she had threads about their availability and pricing on here and Nasty.
I'm sure she'll fill us in once all the SEMA stuff ends. Busy gal!

Love to see some higher quality pictures. How about one of the whole car ?

Does $500 for a set of door hinges really seem like a good idea for anybody building a real world car ? I know we all have different priorities bla bla bla but I just can't wrap my head around it when there are so many other places on a nice car to use that $500.

I believe there is a thread on here that talks about a delay in release. I think they are looking at closer to the first of the year. But as Chevrolaine says I am sure Staci will let us know.

Yes, they are delayed...I've been in regular email contact with Staci on getting a set as my car is going into the panel shop very soon.....would really love to have them available for my car when it's being finished off. Fingers crossed they show up soon.....
I love how this Camaro is easily identified as a Camaro, yet there is virtually nothing at all on thats stock GM.....thats a smooth piece of design to be able to do that.
