Ok, So here is the scenario, 1972 velle with all new suspension from the front to the back. DSE 2.5 drop coils in the front, new stock coils in the back,New SSBC disc brakes up front. energy suspension body mounts all around. New ball joints tie rods everything, Complete rebuild underneath. Just started driving it this past week and realized that its leaning to the drivers side bad. So here is my question, How often do DSE coils collapse? The car has been sitting for some time but it was straight as an arrow before I started driving it. Could a coil spring go bad? Or could it be something else? Im lost !!! Should I remove the DSE springs and put the stock ones back to see what happens? Or just keep driving it to see if it levels out. Both springs fit in the pockets up in the a-arms perfect. Any info would be greatly aprreciated!!:thankyou:

Umm, I dont know? The obvious, shed some weight. Walking helps if you cant run. :hand:

Just kidding. Not sure about the spring loosing its sprung. I dont think so, but you could swap them side to side and see if it travels with the spring.

What I would do is double check all the components that make for the 2.5" drop. If its spindles, arms and coilovers. Just double check those parts to make sure you got the correct parts. It can happen where the part puller pulled the wrong part or the shelf stuffer put the wrong part on the shelf.

Once you determine you have the correct parts take a measurement and a look-see. See if you can tell where the drop is. If its in the coil the arms will look good.

Push on the body to see if its hanging up. Look and listen.

If after the simple checks and everything seems ok then I would swap the coilovers from side to side. If you do and you still have a major drop on the same side I would be looking at some major frame issues. But I dont think you have that, the car was good to go before the swap right.

Yeah, I think you have a good though, the spring. But just double check all the simple stuff first then think about un-bolting some items. And make sure the springs are the same side to side. I dont know how they mark them. Some springs are dotted with a different color of paint. Thats a simple check for you to see. But even that can be miss marked.

Id swap the coilovers side to side and see what happens. JR

No lean here. All sc&c stuff. Maybe one of the springs are not properly indexed in the sockets?

For how long and...
how big are the rats in your area? might have made a nest in your drivers side frame horn.

sounds like a bad spring, its not unheard of. I couln'd see anything else changing from just sitting. Maybe one side bushing is binding? Then shifted when sitting?

I second, swap springs

my chevelle has the same exact issue. 4 new springs, shocks, etc. I've seen lots of A bodies with this issue, some have said they were able to fix the problem with new body mounts, which i'm sure i need but my car didn't lead a quite life early on so im also sure the frame is somewhat tweaked.

On those rare occasions where I say something smart, it's likely because in the past I did something not so smart. Like when I installed new ball joints in a camaro about 30 yrs ago and didn't index one of the coils. :) I did the work in a pretty rough shop with an uneven floor, and didnt notice it unfil i pulled the car out where my buddy was. He started calling the car hunchback, laughing his a$$ off at me. We all tend to remember those lessons, right?

yes we do! I would have still driven it leaning , I love the car and it is the last one I will build. I have learned a lot of great thing from Pro-touring.com. I was just hoping that my spring were ok! DSE makes great stuff and have had no problems in the past with them. Thanks again guys, I will post some pics of it with the 18s on it soon.
