I think at a point some should just body kit a newer camaro. Hear me out , if you has a ls1,t-56,front and rear subframes ,seats ,suspension, brakes, wheels, radaitor, wiring harness, power windows,ac,power locks ,sound system, rear end etc.. were is the point you should just body kit? I like updated parts ,dont get me wrong but, like updated rear leafs,a-arms ,12 bolt, a trick sbc, with aluminum heads ,aluminum radiator, Newer 5 0r 6 speed and rims seem ok too, the stock dash, sheet metal are must .
I guess what im trying to get at is i still want some muscle car left in a pro-touring car. Could even be i drove it for years as a basically a stock muscle car .So does antone else feel the same wat ? also thanks for listening to my rambling lol :fingersx:- Oakesters

In my opinion, that 2nd 4th gen conversion looks awful. I would rather keep the 4th gen body and throw in extra go fast parts.
The nice thing about this hobby is that you make everything your own. If you want to drop the coin on a car, then graft on 1st gen sheet metal, no one can stop you.
I, personally, prefer to have the original, not an imitation.

Wow that 02/69 conversion is terrible.

Yea, the first one isn't too bad.
But if someone is going to drop that kind of $$$. Why on earth use a 4th Gen for a base? Not really topping the charts in any performance categories...

I would agree the 1st one looks much better.

They actually took reproduction sheet metal and draped it around the bare 4th gen chassis. Without a solid frame to ride on, I'm curious to know how rigid it would be compared to either the 1st or 4th gen.
I still think it'd be too much work, with too little benefit.

None of what we do makes sense. Every one of us on this board is bat guano crazy on some level. Attempting to appeal to our sense of reason is like asking Chuck Yeager if a career as a highwire acrobat wouldn't have offered similar thrills at much less personal risk.
Sometimes you just gotta break the sound barrier. Sometimes you just gotta take a 42 year old car and build something insane out of it. If it's not your style, enjoy your new corvette:

lol.....you called it, Wes!
I could have some really nice late model LS powered screamer for the $ I'm spending on an old car....
(if I wanted that...lol)

Like Wes said, none of us function with a high degree of logic. However, by that definition, the reskinned 4th gen is pretty cool because it makes less sense than most of the cars that we have around here. What they have done is quite literally take a new car and make it old. I can almost guarantee that that "hybrid" rides worse than a DSE or similarly equipped car that is well built. I bet it has a ton of squeaks and rattles, exhaust drone, etc and is more of a ****box than than a real 1969 car, which is a feat in and of itself. I hate to be the pot calling the kettle black, but those people are crazy....
... It looks like a 4x4 and its riding 2" off the ground.
