I have an A-body ('70 Buick GS) with rusted out windshield & rear channels, and lower driver's side 1/4 panel, trying to make final decision for correct repair:
1) CHEAP but effective: Do not replace roof panel; cut out rusted metal window channels; fabricate & weld in replacement panels
2) CHEAP but effective: Do not replace full 1/4 panel, only lower 1/2 with patch panel
3) A Little more EXPENSIVE, BUT ALL NEW METAL:
Buy new roof panel (Tamraz's/$300), with new front & rear window channels, and new full 1/4 (including door jamb and partial roof), and rear deck filler panel (for lower rear window channel replacement
I am capable of doing the repairs, although this will be my 1st time, and I expect only to do it ONCE on this car (due to it's rarity/value).
Paying a Professional Bodyman is NOT an option, so WHICH method would you recommend?
