View Full Version : Take a minute to save your hobby
Hi Everyone, Not a regular contributor but I visit PT virtually every day and truly enjoy the community here. The reason I am speaking up today is that I am deeply concerned about the future of our hobby. There is a growing and unrelenting private and political movement to halt any form of automotive modification. I believe that the ONLY way that we can protect the future of our hobby is to let those who devote themselves to its demise know the shear number of hobbyists and industries who strongly oppose the erosion of our right to enjoy our automotive pursuits.
Therefore, as a private citizen and a fellow passionate Pro-Touring and automotive enthusiast, I ask that you please take a few minutes right now to join SAN. http://www.semasan.com/san/join.aspx
SAN is devoted to protecting your automotive interests. Their task is truly daunting and increasingly challenging, but your simple registration and sign-up shows that you support their efforts and by way of showing our numbers we strengthen our voice and our hobby.
My sincere thanks to all of you for taking the time to do this, and once you have joined, please forward SAN's website to all of your other gearhead buddies so that we can really show our support for this fantastic organization and for our hobby. Can I see a show of hands? ;-)
Gavin Scott.

Already signed up and recently setup a dedicated forum for SAN on our local board.
My sincere thanks and appreciation to those who have taken the time to sign up! Things seemed to have slowed a bit following initial response, so I am asking, nay, pleading (!), again for everyone not already registered to do so now. This takes so little time yet I believe few investments will have such a positive ROI to securing the future of our hobby as this will. I have included the SEMA Action Network's link again here to hopefully help out: http://www.semasan.com/san/join.aspx .
To those who have registered as a result of this call out, again I thank you. If you are reading this but are already registered could I ask a favor and request that you let me know how this is going by responding with a simple "In".
I'm just a single voice here with a belief in the benefits that SAN offers to us all. Don't make me make this a personal BHAG with some crazy goal of a thousand sign-ups! Best way to shut me up is to register!!! LOL!
My sincerest thanks everyone!
Gavin.

I suggest everyone here join!
You don't want to become like Australia (where I am from), where almost all modifications are illegal. I pay taxes, do community work as well as employment and school - however, I'm a bad guys because my XB Falcon has bigger wheels than stock. Ludicrous. Don't let it happen to you!
Thanks to everyone who has signed up! ;-) Interestingly since first posting this, I have personally noted what seems to be an increase in media coverage of proposed legislation regarding automobiles, and none of it is in our best interests. This may just be due to my own heightened awareness of this right now or it may be that there is indeed a legitimate increase in government regulatory activity, (please note "Bad Bird, Matt Barr's comments).
Whatever the case, rules around our hobby are changing and we need to be on top of this if we want to have any say at all. I'm honestly not an alarmist (!) and I'm not here to "stir the pot", but I know from what I have read that we need to show our support for the SEMA Action Network, (SAN), as it is the best and most organized voice in North America working to protect our automotive interests.
Okay everyone, let's get those sign ups going, and please tell your buddies too!!! It just takes a minute! The link again is: http://www.semasan.com/san/join.aspx
BTW, it would be awesome to hear that the moderators and our more "high profile" auto-crossers and suppliers here are all signed up. What do ya say?
Thanks All,
Gavin.

Have been thinking of joining.... recently got serious since they got rid of collector plates for cars over 25 years..... Now i have to get both my 81 & 85 Grand Prix's emission's yearly! i haven't even put 3k miles on my 85 in 10 years! They lowered the emissions standard's as well pretty much making it impossible for my car's to pass! I talked to local muffler shop guy who said it was their way of getting older cars off the road...
