Seriously, this thing is awesome...a bit on the $$ side, but when you throw your first double flare, you will say it is worth every penny.
And then it you will again say it every time you make a flare!

Just had to show-n-tell the newest member of my garaged family.

Ya they are sweet, bought me one a while back when eastwood had them on sale... I will be putting it to use in a few weeks when I start doing my brake lines.

I wonder how this one compares to the mastercool hydraulic unit? How does it do on stainless tubing?

Looks like a nice tool. I have the mastercool mainly because I was slipping tubing. IMO a great flaring tool has great tubing dies to hold the tube. If it holds the tubing without slipping its a winner!! And from the looks of those dies they are long enough to grip the tube without having to use too much pressure to hold the tube. I think they got it right. Longer dies to grip the tube. But I do like the hydralic pump to do the flare on mine. But those dies look longer than mine. So they might hold better. Nice tool. Cost? JR

I have the master cool unit myself. Compared both and bought the master cool based on total feedback. I used mine doing all my stainless lines. Who knows which is really better, and so long as they both work, who cares?

Mastercool ones cost a little more. I have a Mastercool and also got the 37 degree fittings as well as bubble flare and GM fuel line flare so it is set for about everything. This one looks easier to handle, but less portable as you need a vice or something to hold it while you make the flare. The mastercool is hydraulic and I can take to the car and have even done some on the car repairs. Being all mechanical this one should last forever.

The portability thing was what really did it for me. I too have done some flares on the vehicle. It's not real easy but at least it's possible. I honestly also have reservations about any Eastwood tools. I've had very mixed results with their stuff. Some have been excellent. Other of their stuff has been less than stellar. It's good to know that at least this item seems OK.

I have two different brands of double flair that just push the steel tubing out of them instead of flairing them.

I also got the hand-held tube bender because the video shows it to be a perfect (and tighter radius) bend every time , but so far it ain't that great. I used it a couple of times and went back to my normal tube bender.

OK as for my PROFESSIONAL opinion I am a Master Technician and have had my Mastercool made unit, sold from Snap On tool truck and it cost me more yes, and when Snappy dude sent my butane soldering iron in and it got lost he gave me a set of the 37 deg dies so I am good to go. Also I just added a set of Matco line bender pliers pn#TB441these are for 3/16 and I am getting the 1/4 set as I like them separate unlike Eastwoods but the eastwood type would be my next choice.
I have had my hydraulic unit for over a year and a half and would not trade it for the world. This one tool cost me $468 from Snap On truck but has made me plenty more than that. And made doing rusted brake lines so easy. And these new pliers will be another great addition to my staple tools.
Its unreal the amount I wind up spending on tools but they do make me money AND work for my projects too.
Heck my little scratch tig has made me quite a bit and adds to my ability to fab parts.
Heck it sucks when I find a tool I forget I had on my wish list and I have already bought.

I'll get some pics up this weekend. Check the video on their site-it really shows a great example of how easy it is to use.
