I'm not positive if this question is in the right forum but im curious if I am going to be able to use all the same original clutch linkage when I install my new engine? I have a 67 camaro and am wondering if I should start searching for an aftermarket setup. Any info will help

Thanks, jk

I just went through this exact situation. My car is also an original 4 speed car and had all of the original mechanical stiff in order. I found that unless I wanted to invest in a totally custom set of headers or moved three tubes on a set of Hookers, it wasn't going to happen. I ended up going hydo. using an ATS firewall plate and the associated slave parts. Went in like a dream. Hope that helps, Dave

thanks Dave, Where did you get your hydroboost from? Did you use a wilwood setup or one from a donor car?

We did this on my dad's 68 last year. Bought a pivot ball that bolted onto a couple of the bellhousing bolts, a set of engine mount plates from Schwartz Performance that moved the engine back an extra inch, and moved the #7 primary tube back a little over an inch on a set of Hedman Hedders. Works like a dream.

You should be able to make it work. I used 02 corvette exhaust manifolds on my 68 corvette LS conversion. There was plenty of clearance for the Z bar. I'm doing a 72 442 now, looks like GTO manifolds will clear.
Another hint, GM made several mounting positions for the block side Z bar mount, from directly on the 621 bell housing to several inches forward on C3 vettes. SDparts sells 2 Z bar mounts for LS motors that give you a couple options in addition to the bellhousing hole for mounting position.

Oh I'm sorry I meant hydraulic on the clutch assy. I don't have a hydroboost.
