Bret Voelkel is still on his feet, he is preparing himself for the big show tonight. Here is his report from day 5:
“Tired….
Not bored, mind you…just physically exhausted from walking and talking for nearly 18 hours a day. Now I’m not complaining, just trying to frame up the entire experience for you!
I’ve not taken many pictures today because, well, I’ve had people in front of me since we arrived at around 9 this morning. People with Platinum bidders passes, our potential customers. It is amazing (and gratifying, I might add) to realize how much this group of people already knows about Velocity. They have done their research. Everyone loves the bare metal stripes! I love them too, but I guess since I have lived with them for so long I have dismissed the uniqueness. I am now reminded how much work Dennis and Kurt put into those stripes!
We’ve gone through about 2000 hero cards (Link) (http://www.ridetech.com/massmail/2011/january/velocity-sale/camaro_card.pdf) and I’ve given out almost all of the build books that we brought (Link) (http://www.ridetech.com/massmail/2011/january/velocity-sale/book.pdf). Since I have only given those books out to really serious bidders, I am highly encouraged by this level of activity!
The video about velocity that Route 2 media did (Video Link) (http://ridetechtv.com/?p=462) has entertained thousands this week. Since I have now sat through it 3853 times, I am going to burn it after Velocity sells.
I will likely be tied up all day today, so my update might be delayed for day six. As I indicated above, not many pictures today, but I did get just a couple on my path to the bathroom. You might need to blow up the t-shirt shot to get the full effect. This guy said people had been trying to buy that shirt off him all day!
Ok guys…homestretch. Velocity is lot #1278. We will likely be on the block between 4:00 and 6:00 mountain time (6:00 and 8:00 eastern time) on the Speed Channel. They will come and get us to get in the staging lanes about 3 hours before block time. I’ll be driving Velocity on stage. When I get out, that will be the last time I ever sit in that car again. 5 minutes later it will belong to someone else.
For those of you with my cell number… I may not answer during that time… send me a text or email. (I get email on my phone as well) I love you all but will be a bit tied up this afternoon!
