This will not concern you if you live in a state that only issues rear tags, but for those that live in states that issue both front and rear plates, where do you display your front plate? I have a 68 Camaro and I really don't want to clutter up the front with an ugly tag. I have seen some just throw it up on the dash but I would like to hear what some of you do.

I live in New York so a front plate is required. In the past I have either put my front plate on my dash or just keep it in the glovebox just in case its needed. I never received a ticket (fingers crossed) as of yet. I'm curious to know what others do with their plates as well.

I used to not run a front plate here in IL,but after getting pulled over several times for no front plate I got tired of it and put it on the dash of my car.I actually got pulled over more for having it on the dash/windshield then not having one at all.

told them the same thing about my 97 z28.My s10 Im currently driving doesnt have one cause it was damaged when I bought the truck, then I hit a deer and got a new bumper.I know technically Im am breaking the law by not having it on the truck, but when I had the truck box or tonneu cover on it I got stopped since putting a camper shell on the truck Ive been stopped once in almost 4 years.I think they are profiling.

this has always been a crazy thing to me; why is one state a front plate is SO required, but in another they don't want it?
I've experienced it both ways; lived in NY and VA (2 plate states) and now I'm in PA (1 plate state). we PA'ers savor our clean front bumpers!
when I used to sell cars, we would get cars sometimes from NJ dealers (another 2 plate state) and customers would be REAL upset when they saw the front plate bracket installed! esp if it required drilling holes!
BTW, plate on the dash is just as illegal as no plate at all. I never has a prob though; when I was in NY I had my '70 Nova. nova bumpers are designed for a front plate.

Keep it under the seat and throw it on the dash if needed. If the cop is a JO and gives you a ticket, pay it and hope he doesn't pull you over again!

Prominently on the front where it goes. It doesn't really look out of place other than the fact that a curb smashes it up every now and again.

Proudly up front where it is supposed to be, since I have to have one it seemed only right to give it meaning.
At least this new plate I have is not that ugly compared to the ones they have had. In 1967 they had it right and the plates were white with black letters and numbers.

I don't bother. Cops around here don't hassle 'old cars'. if anyone asks I'll say I'm trying to find a bracket on ebay, lol

I have a split bumper Camaro and don't like the look of a front plate (or bracket) so I keep the plate under the pass. seat but have never been stopped or asked about it. It's my opinion that Missouri could save a few bucks by issueing a single plate but what do I know!

We have to have one here in TX. City police couldn't care less, but I've bee pulled over several times in both of my vehicles for not having it on the front. I finally put it on the dash in my WRX and haven't gotten pulled over since.
I don't plan on putting one on the firebird. I may cave and put it on the inside dash, but there's no way in hell I'm putting it on the front.

All my vehicles have large dents in the front bumpers where the plate goes, so my cars don't really look cleaner without the license plate. In Cali if you stuck the plate in the windshield the cops would write you for no front plate and obstructed view. The front plate thing is all about money, for the plate violation and stop light cameras.

I went out and found me a NOS front plate bracket, sanded it and painted it all fancy until I was real proud of it, put the thing on and immediately said, "No f'ing way, they can write me a ticket if they want." So the license plate is hanging on the wall in the garage and the bracket is in a box. No tickets or warnings so far. Keeping my fingers and nuts crossed that they won't notice.

stop light cameras.
Police used that reasoning when issuing my brother a ticket. Funny thing though, it's mounted in the "FRONT" windshield and when the stop light camera takes pictures, correct me if I'm wrong, they take a picture of the driver through the front windshield and the license plate would be seen.

In Illinois it would save them money they don't have if they went to one plate. I have never been pulled over visually from the front unless it was moving radar and the cop had to turn around and come up behind me and pull me over , which provides them with all the info they need.
In a bankrupt state like I live in ,it would only make sense to go to one plate. But they have never made any financial sense in Illinois. Heck we can't even prosecute a political crook properly in this state anymore, lol.

Technology is already far enough advance to be able to take a pic with the camera on the other side of the street on the other pole. All it means is that they see you do it from the front and take your pic from the back, not to hard to do if you are wanting to get the money out of people. I am sure other states with one plate already have the solution .
When the mayor of one town got a camera ticket he had all of them removed. Bet he didn't like being called a lawbreaker for a couple of inches, afterall isn't that what gets most polititions in trouble is a couple of inches too much, lol.

Now that there are computers with the internet in police cars , you just might have the officer find one for you in less time than it takes to write you a ticket.

Maryland requires you to have a front and back plate. Alot of people I know, myself included numerous time, have been pulled over for no front plate. I had to drill holes in my nose to install the plate but it saves me from the cops.

We have that obstructed view law too. The early stop light cameras used to photo the front of the car so they claimed to need the front plate to ID the car. Now the stop light cameras catch the car from the rear to see the plate and the light too for evidence, so the front plate never is photographed with the current system.......but they still want that fine for no front plate.
When I was in Michigan and the State went to one plate system, it saved the state like 10 million a year to get rid of the front plate. Here in Cali we pay for the plates so it really will not save the state any money and lose that violation money.
I'm in Texas now and am not sure what I'll do. For my daily drive trailblazer, I'll put it in the windshield for now. I don't have the front bracket and I'm in no hurry to get one. For the TA, I'll probably put i under the nose on the front spoiler. They can kiss my a$$ if they think I'll put it on the front bumper. No way in hell.
