From what I know most people put the MAT sensor so it reads the air in the intake or plenum, I few people has talked about putting it in the intake tube just before the throttle body or whatever you have because of heat soak reasons. Has anyone done any test on this, how much affect could this have?

The example i have heard is after driving then coming to a stop for a few minutes the air temp that is close to the intake plenum (where the MAT sensor is) will be hotter then the air temp that is going into the cylinders.

James,

All that is true, but I've run it both ways, and really didn't see any difference, not even in back to back testing.

I agree. Personal opinion, convenience, and neatness are the guiding factors.

I have read that it doesn't make much difference after things are all warmed up.
my Accel has a manifold surface temp sensor that is optional and is for start up and cold conditions more than anything else and is somewhat redundant but it can make for smoother start ups till warm.
