Bret Voelkel is out at the Barrett Jackson auction today, scoping out the place and gearing up to sell the Velocity Camaro. He wrote in this afternoon with this report:
“The Barrett Jackson auction doesn’t officially start until tomorrow but this place is already buzzing with people!
The display booth is set up and rockin’ but we’re still waiting to get our final placement for Velocity so we can set up the video and signs. We’re in our assigned “area” which is prime placement right outside the auction ring. I must be living right!
There are several really nice, high end pro tour style cars selling on Saturday night this year…seems like the genre has caught on here at Barrett. The Roadster Shop is selling their ‘70 Chevelle (formerly green, now black), a couple very cool early Nova’s, and a way over the top black mid 60’s Corvette…all on Saturday evening.
Another trend seems to be modified Corvettes, especially the ones set up on C5 chassis.
I’m always into the the Boss 429 Mustangs…5 of those here this year in assorted colors. Sorry for the poor picture composition… Really tough to get any good shots with the way they have the cars packed in here!
Tonight is the opening gala event for all the bidders and vip’s. We’ll be here until 11 tonight and for the rest of the week, so by Saturday I’ll be ready to drop.
