I been looking to buy a 1969 Camaro and came across this one from browns performance. I looks pretty clean, im not digging the vinyl top though. Im thinking about having it removed if I buy it.
Whats a good offer price on the car if anyone could give input..Its a single stage paint job..theres a video too.

Honestly, I think it is about a $22-$25k car. Removing a vinyl top usually uncovers some rust or other sins. Unless you plan to completely repaint and do some body work either leave the top on, or find a different car.

IMO. It is worth $30K tops.

I had a friend overseas who bought a car with a vinyl top and shipped it over. Before he did, he had them remove the old one and install a replacement (they offered to do it cheap as part of the deal).

He was starting a full-blown resoration on the car, so I told him to take the brand new top off. He was less than thrilled since he had already paid to have a new one, but partially due to their poor installation job and a lot of persistance on my part, he did. He was glad he did. Sure enough there was a lot of bad rot hidden.

Granted his was much rougher looking, but you don't know what they did when they repainted it. Did they do all the necessary work, or did they short-cut and just recover it with vinyl? Heck, the top could even be there to cover up an issue. The problem is, you don't know going into it. If you're going to buy a car with vinyl, you either need to plan on leaving it on (living in ignorance and hoping it doesn't become a serious issue) or expect that you may have some work to do in the future.

Where did you buy the car from? It looks really familiar. Any specs on the big block?

Oh man, you better cross your fingers. Never, Ever, Ever, buy a car sight unseen. Especially a 41 year old car.

Just the front is stock, im going to do a dse front suspension & 5 speed then it should be good to go. I didnt see any rust..where were you looking?
I paid a little over $38k. Theres $22k in the motor alone with less then 220 miles.

if you look at the frame rails you can see the rust on the inside by the body bushings its not bad just a little rust

Not to pick it apart but I see a few things just from 1 photo.

No flywheel cover

Looks like the bottom was painted on a hoist without the sub frame removed. You can see where the leg was just behind where the current lift point is now. Also, the subframe bolt is painted partially.

Bare wire running through the frame.

I've never seen a header pipe run outside the frame rail on a 1st gen.

Hope it turns out well...

"Looks like the bottom was painted on a hoist without the sub frame removed"
He told me thats just a reflection from the headers on the left side...he also said with that 598 BB those were custom made headers and they had to go that way to fit. As far as the wiring, thats a simple fix, the flywheel.. wheel Im installing a manual with scattershield. I know I took a big chance buying sight unseen. But I been out on disability and cant leave anywhere anytime soon...

Just a little update..I cant be more happy with my car at this point! I went ahead and installed a kiesler tremec 5 speed, installed DSE front upper & lower arms, wilwood disk brakes all around and new forgelines..had the underside resprayed also. I ended up spending alot more money than I thought, but then again, doesnt everybody??
