You may be familiar with my story about my brother-in-law. He's got a 97 or 97 vette. Then my mother-in-law is getting a Taurus SHO. The sbc I just put in the bird (my car -not mother in law) wasn't going to cut it in my ability to go weiner swingin'. So I purchased a 15000 mile ls2 out of a c6 for $4000 with harness and pedal. Is that a good deal? Based on power to weight I figured I would need to make about 450 bhp. Now he tells me he's somehow going to make 600 at the flywheel with a fipk, cat back, cam, springs and some new magical tune. Is that even possible or did somebody blow sunshine up his @ss?
I have a few questions. I based my initial numbers off of wikipedia but I've done some other research since and I can't figure out what the real bhp of the c5 and c6s were. Anybody have an idea. wikipedia says the c6 makes 400 hp and the c5 makes 350 but I also read that was over-rated or the f-body was under-rated. Anyone know?
I'll be spending enough to get this thing installed. I'm a little worried about the rebuilt 8.5" rear I just put in. I won't be putting on heads but will use his tune if it will help. Any other relatively inexpensive ideas or should I even be worried. I gotta keep on swingin'!
